EAF FURNACES
Production of eaf furnaces
Sisemtek specializes in the design of EAF (Electric Arc Furnace) furnaces, used in metallurgy to produce steel from scrap and monocrystalline silicon from silicon-based minerals. These highly efficient and versatile furnaces are known for their efficiency and versatility in recycling iron and stainless steel (Inox).
The scrap is melted through an electric arc struck by three consumable graphite cylindrical electrodes, which enter the furnace crucible from the top.
TYPES OF EAF FURNACES
Alternating Current (AC) Electric Arc Furnace
Direct Current (DC) Electric Arc Furnace
The direct current (DC) electric arc furnace has a single centrally placed electrode. The arc is struck between the electrode (cathode) and three “anodes” placed at the bottom of the furnace, in a triangle. This way, the electric current is forced to pass through the scrap, melting it.
